Frustration~Blogtoberfest 2012 Day 27

Hi Friends,
Remember this fabric and pattern for Shylee's jacket?  I was excited to get started on it and got all the pieces cut out and sat down at the sewing machine to begin sewing when I discovered a missing piece.  I went back through the unused pattern pieces and realized that it just wasn't there.  In all the many many years I've been sewing, that's never happened before.  I'm not sure what I'm going to do.  When it comes to making garments, I absolutely positively need a pattern.  I don't know how to wing it this time.

Maybe I'll just make the hat!

Keep smiling!

  1. Oh dear - I'm with you on this...I've been sewing for decades now and never had that happen. Maybe take it back and try to exchange? Course - they'll probably think you lost the piece. Anyway - it's an adorable pattern.

  2. Oh no! I hope you find it or can call the company and get a new one.

  3. Hi Annette,

I've had a missing piece on a pattern before. That's always frustrating. Which piece is it?
    I'm guessing the collar?!
Hope you figure it out :)

  4. Oh no, how disappointing! I, too, must have a pattern unless it is something very simple like a pocket or facing. Did you buy the pattern new at a fabric shop?

  5. If I was that far along in the process, I'd probably go buy another pattern. What a waste of money otherwise.

  6. So frustrating! I've had that happen a long time ago - but I just winged it and it was fine. I'd call Mccalls - they are pretty good about sorting those kinds of things out. :-)

Not sure what piece it is but you might be able to "flip" the coordinating piece? Or extend a similar piece?

  7. I agree with the other comments that suggest contacting McCalls. In the meantime, you could make the hat. But don't give up on the jacket!

  8. Gosh me, I've never had that happen, how frustrating!!!

It sounds like a good idea to call McCalls.

Stay Safe, my dear and I hope "Frankenstorm" doesn't cause too much trouble.

    Cheers, T. :)

  9. Oh no, I was so looking forward to seeing that sweet jacket finished. Can you purchase another pattern that is similar in style and requires the same yardage?
