This week's prompt from Sally at The Studio Sublime was to take time for ourselves. In the busyness of taking care of everyone and everything, we tend to not take time to do something just for us. To recharge, regroup, or just relax and do something we truly enjoy.
Since I left my job at the gift shop three and a half years ago, I find that I have more time than I know what to do with. Of course it wasn't always this way. When the kids were growing up, my night owl tendency was used for that time to do something just for me.
This week was an extremely busy, exhausting week and I missed my daily cup of tea. Usually, I just make a mug of tea, saving the china teacups and teapots for tea parties.

This week was an extremely busy, exhausting week and I missed my daily cup of tea. Usually, I just make a mug of tea, saving the china teacups and teapots for tea parties.
When I finally had some free time one afternoon, I decided to make a small pot of tea and have a tea party just for me. Candlelight, flowers (albeit silk), china and cinnamon tea. Soothing, relaxing, and just what I needed.

How do you take time?

[no. 13 this week]
Beautiful photos, love the first one with the teapot in the background and the cup in focus. I'm amazed how many of us are tea drinkers, coffee just doesn't seem to have the same soothing quality.
ReplyDeleteYour photographs are magazine-worthy! I tell you, there seem to be a lot of tea drinkers on this hop - I must get on the band wagon! I will say - my tea will not be in as a pretty a teacup as yours, though! :)
ReplyDeleteFuN! Love your photos, I feel the warmth of that candle and can almost smell the cinnamon!
ReplyDeleteHow nice that you treat yourself to a daily cup of tea, and with candles to boot!! I love hot tea with honey and lemon in the winter.

ReplyDeleteI'm glad you found time in your busy week to relax and enjoy some tea :) And the china is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely and very refines way to spend some time...
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely treat for yourself! My "me" time is stealing a few moments to read and working in my altered quote book. And then, of course, there is the junking. Oddly, that is one of the things I can do that completely clears my mind. I just go into some sort of junk trance and it pushes all other thoughts out of my head - until I get home and realize I have bought a bunch of work for myself - LOL!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos and a lovely thought. Cinnmon tea and a party for one!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures - all these photos of tea and delicate tea cups make me go into the kitchen and make myself a cup too!

beautiful shots! I love your tea party set. tea is a wonderful ritual. I'm a night owl and my husband often makes me a cup of tea (herbal) as he goes off to bed
ReplyDeleteAwesome Photos :)
ReplyDeleteI really don't know what us Brits would do if we didn't have tea :)
We take it so for granted wherever we roam, my Hubby and I went to our fav. tearoom just yesterday, for cucumber sandwiches wit the crust cut off, LOL!!! :)
Have a lovely weekend,
cheers, T. :)
nice photo! It's so good you were able to take some time to yourself. One of the ways I like to take time to myself is watching whatever I want on Netflix alone. I usually do this while knitting or crocheting.
ReplyDeleteI love that you treated yourself to a sweet little tea party! How perfect :) And that tea set is just lovely...blue and white is so classic and gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteA tea party! I love that you used the china and set the mood and the table with flowers and candles. That is special. And why not? Why only reserve the china for 'special' days? Every day is special. Thanks for the reminder. Enjoy the day. Erin
ReplyDeleteWhat a great thought - that taking time is about using the good china just because. Glad you have time for tea!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty tea set, I'm sure it made the tea feel like a party - even if it was only a party for one. :)
ReplyDeleteWhen we lived in Trinidad (in the West Indies) the oil camp we lived in always served tea and it was a custom to go to the mess hall for tea and biscuits (cookies) in the afternoon. What lovely memories this has stirred up.
Love that you took out the good China and the cup and pot are beautiful!Spoil yourself rotten!
