Mish Mash Monday

It's May 10 and I had to turn on the heater this morning to get the chill out of the house!  It really feels like fall after having 90 degree weather last week.

I had a wonderful Mother's Day and I hope you did too if you're a mom!  We spent the day at Sotterly Plantation, a local National Historic Landmark located on the picturesque Patuxent River.  I'm trying hard to learn how to take better photos and I knew this would be the perfect place to work on my skills. These are some of the photos I took beginning with my beautiful daughter and handsome son!

I was so excited to learn I had won a giveaway from Pinks and Needles and even more excited when my adorable pincushion and needles arrived.  I wish I had taken a picture of the beautiful packaging but I was just too eager not to tear into it!

An update on my dad.  The doctors removed the cancerous tumor from his bladder and it was in the very early stages.  He does not have to have any radiation or chemo treatments, just a check up every 3 months.  We're so relieved and happy and thankful for such a positive outcome!  Thank you to all of you for your encouragement and prayers!

Be sure to check back here tomorrow.  I just might have a giveaway announcement....

Mish Mash Monday

Can you believe it's Monday already?  And not just Monday, but May no less!  I realize as I get older that I move slower and time moves faster.  It's just not fair sometimes!

If you like giveaways, check out 31everything.  Fern makes custom photo cards for any occasion and you can choose the one you like.  Her cards are really cool and she will tweak it for you too!  The winner will be announced May 17.  Here's just one of her cards.
If you like sales, and honestly who doesn't, head over to Vintage T for a 'name your own price' sale!  Yes you read that right!  She is closing her vintage shop on Etsy and you better hurry before everything sells!

I tried another great recipe from Janet at The Empty Nest.  The Rustic Peach Crostada was just delicious, but mine didn't turn out as pretty as hers!  I really think she should write a cookbook!

I added another lavender sachet to my Etsy shop.  I used a vintage fingertip towel with eyelet trim and just added some decorative stitching and trim and irridescent seed beads.  It's gathered at the top with ivory ribbon and has a removeable sachet pillow!  This is my favorite sachet so far!

I hope you have a marvelous Monday!!!

Mish Mash Monday

Two weeks ago I received my CPAP (continuous postivie airway pressure) machine for treating my sleep apnea.  I used it the first week and did okay....I have mixed feelings about it.  Last week I didn't use it because I was so stopped up and was coughing a lot.  I'll probably write a full post on this in the near future, but for now this is what I have to wear every night so I don't stop breathing!!!
Really lovely, don't you think??  And before you ask.....no, that's not me!  I maybe, might think about taking my picture for that future post!

Tomorrow night is the Bon Jovi concert I won't be going to...sniff, sniff.  I bought those tickets in November and was really looking forward to it.  My nephew and his wife will be taking mine and Erin's place with my sisters for a really fun night.  I think I'll put on all my CD's and at least have a Bon Jovi music marathon!

I will be listing these lavender sachets later today.

Janet over at The Empty Nest is alway cooking up something good and sharing her recipes.  Every Friday is Pieday and I made this wonderful sausage and potatoe quiche.
And this incredible Cauliflower and Broccoli Casserole.  I'm not able to link to this recipe but you can find it at The Empty Nest dated March 22, 2010.
Both were really, really good and even Shylee liked them!  We will definitely be having them again!  Thanks Janet!

My Etsy mini is being featured at DZ Fantasy for the month of April along with several other minis from Etsy!  Donna has the most fun and whimsical shop and blog!  You'll find the most delightful fantasy fiber sculptures of fairies, mermaids and jewelry!

Be sure to check out Donna's shop and blog!

Have a marvelous Monday!!!!

Mish Mash Monday

Here it is Monday again already!  I've been busy with Shylee all week while her parents went to a gaming convention and I'm on the verge of exhaustion!  She is busy, busy, busy doing the things toddlers do including throwing temper tantrums!  I'm talking screams that come close to shattering the windows, banging the head on the wall, floor, table or Grandma's leg, throwing herself on the floor and writhing, kicking, and thrashing about, throwing whatever her little hand can get hold of.  So we found a nice little corner for time out and she spends a good amount of time there!  These tantrums go on all day long.    Her mama is picking her up tomorrow!!!!!

Before Shylee came, I started on a pair of placemats and got one of them done.  I hope to finish the other one and list it in the Etsy shop by the end of the week.  This set coordinates with one of the dish towel dresses I made a while back.

If you have an Etsy shop, you should visit the blog All Things Tangled.  The Friday Feature features Etsy items that were submitted on Thursday when the theme for Friday is announced.   A couple of my things have been featured and it increased views in my shop!  It's also just a great blog!

I hope it's not too late to tell you about a giveaway over at cabin + cub.  It ends today so hurry over and check out the cutest peel and stick, repositionable,  Dick and Jane bookplates.   These would be so cute in kids' books or even your own!!  And they can be personalized!

After Shylee leaves, I will be getting ready for a road trip to Arkansas next week to visit family and go to a Bon Jovi concert!  I'm soooo excited!!!!!!!!!

I hope you have a happy Monday!!!!

Mish Mash Monday

Happy Monday and welcome to MMM!  I hope you had a terrific weekend!

I was soooo excited and happy to meet two of my good friends on Friday for lunch.  It's been two years since seeing one and three years since seeing the other.  One of them has a 6 week old baby girl I got to meet but she had the nerve to sleep through the whole lunch!!!  I guess that means we'll have to get together again!

Saturday was perfect for the first day of spring.  My daughter, Shylee and I took a day trip to Lancaster County, PA and hit the antique mall and Amish shops.  I got some really great deals on these vintage goodies!

A lace dress for $5 that I got for the lace!

A skirt with jewel toned buttons for $3.  I'll be turning it into something else...stay tuned!!

Fabric scraps that I need like I need another hole in my head, but they're pink and were only $1 !!

And a milk glass compote that has nothing to do with sewing, fabric, lace or crafting...it fills an empty spot on my buffet!

I know it's not much today, but that's all I've got!  Thanks again to Audrey at Audrey's Country Crafts for sponsoring MMM!

Have you found any great bargains lately?

Mish Mash Monday

Happy Monday to everyone and welcome to another edition of MMM!  I hope y'all remembered to set your clocks ahead over the weekend.  I'm so excited that spring is coming. Changing the time means it won't be much longer!!!!

I discovered a new Etsy shop via one of my favorite blogs, My Life Under the Bus.  The shop is Anita Begley Jewelry Designs and her jewelry is beautiful!  I really want these earrings!!
One of my favorite things is shopping for fabric.  We live in a rural county and are fortunate enough to have a JoAnn's but it is small and limited in selection.  So I was thrilled to discover a quilt shop in the next county!  I walked in and thought I was in heaven!  I was surrounded by the largest selection of colors and patterns and I was in awe!  One of the employees walked around the corner to ask if I needed anything and I couldn't even speak!  She just smiled and said, "Oh, I see you're in your happy place"!  Because I was so overwhelmed, I only bought one yard of fabric and made these placemats.  I can't wait to go back there!
We left the quilt shop and went to Borders where I was further inspired by the projects in these magazines.  I'm just itching to get started working on the new ideas I have!
Thanks to Audrey over at Audrey's Country Crafts for sponsoring MMM.  Please visit her and check out the chicken recipe!

What puts you in your "happy place"?

Mish Mash Monday

It was a busy weekend with Shylee visiting and keeping us entertained!  Who needs to watch television when you can be entertained by a toddler?!

Devon over at Devon's Quiet Corner is having a giveaway!  You have until March 11th to enter to win these spring time goodies.
Here's an update on my sewing room.  I've cleaned off the cutting table and the sewing table and have much more room to actually do some creating!  The rest of the room isn't done but this is a start.  You can read the original post and see pictures of the chaos here
.

That's all for this edition of MMM.  Thanks to Audrey at Audrey's Country Crafts for hosting MMM.  Check out her blog and see what she's been up to.  Have a great week!!!

Mish Mash Monday

I have the best blogosphere buddies that a blogger could have!  Your comments on my last post were encouraging and so appreciated.  I came to the realization that I'm feeling discouraged with my Etsy shop and my blog.  I spend hours promoting both on the Etsy forums and see little in return for my time.  Having said that, I realize what I need to do...spend less time online and more time sewing.  It's as simple as that.  So I hope you will see more posts of things I've actually made and listed on Etsy!
I won this cute hedgehog pincushion in a giveaway by Sew Kim a couple of weeks ago.  Right after Kim notified me that I won, we had the back to back snow storms and I waited and waited, not so patiently I might add, for the little guy to arrive.  We were without mail for 10 days and he was in the first delivery when we finally dug out the mailbox!  I just love him!!!  Kim's Etsy shop is closed until the fall but you can read her blog here.

I started this quilt 2 years ago.  I made it to give to my daughter at her baby shower and this is how she received it.  Shylee will be 2 in April and I'm determined to finish it by then!  I finally started the quilting last week at craft night with my friend.  I'll be working on it in the evenings instead of being on the computer!  Right now I'm hand quilting but may end up finishing it with the machine.  I forgot how much I enjoy quilting!

This is the newest listing in the shop.  My favorite part is the buttons on this one.  I love the buttery yellow color and the texture.

Many thanks to Audrey at Audrey's Country Crafts for sponsoring Mish Mash Monday!  Head on over there and see what she is up to!

I hope you have a magnificent Monday!!!

Mish Mash Monday...Blizzard, Dish Towel Dress and More

The blizzard is over and we're still digging out.  I think we should invest in a snow blower because we would never need it if we actually had one!  This is what it looks like in my little part of the world.
I was thrilled to find a tutorial for making a dish towel dress that showed a much easier and faster way of making it than I was doing.  So for the first time I made this one in about an hour!  I'll be listing it in the shop today after taking better pictures!

The winners of the Felt Smack Down were chosen and you can see them here.  If you scroll down from there you will see all the entries.  There were some amazing and fun projects submitted.  I'm so glad I didn't have to choose a winner!

Mama's Little Treasures is giving away a free ebook for a crazy patch journal cover during the month of February.  This would be great for any kind of book, photo album or scrap book you might want to cover or personalize.  Just leave a comment on her blog letting her know you would like to have one!
Whatever you're doing today, I hope you have a Marvelous Monday!

Mish Mash Monday

It's Mish Mash Monday again!  Here's what was going on this past week.

I made this dish towel dress for my Etsy shop and decided to keep it for myself!  I actually had quite a few problems with it and the end result just wasn't something I felt I could sell.  So now I have my very own dish towel dress!!

I had a tooth pulled on Thursday and I hope I never have to do that again!  What an ordeal just to keep me calm enough to numb my mouth!!!!  I am a baby when it comes to the dentist and this visit was no exception.  You can read about my last visit here

.
I think these bookends are just awesome!  I got them from the Etsy shop Adirondack Metal.  They make the coolest signs, bookends, hooks and other fun items.  Now I'll be able to keep my reference books within reach of my sewing machine!

I've added a new feature over to the right.  "The recipe file"  is a list of recipes I've shared in past posts and I've included a link to each one.  Let me know if you try one of the recipes and how you like it....or not like it!

There's a giveaway over at Devon's Quiet Corner!  If you love pink, you'll love this giveaway!!  Head on over there to see how to win and what the fabulous prize is!

That's all for this edition of MMM.  Have a marvelous Monday!!!

Mish Mash Monday

Audrey, over at Audrey's Country Crafts, started Mish Mash Monday and I thought it was such a great idea I wanted to do it too!  It's taken awhile to get it started but today is the day!  Mondays will be the day that I tell you all the 'little things' on my mind that don't really fit anywhere else or aren't enough to fill a whole post.

There are so many fantastic giveaways going on and here are two of them I've entered.  The first one is from The Empty Nest and it's for this bright and beautiful tote bag. You can enter to win here.  Be sure to check out her Etsy shop also!

The second giveaway is from Sew Kim and it's this adorable hedgehog pin cushion.

Enter the giveaway here and visit Kim's Etsy shop Sewn Kim.

One of my personal goals for the year is to read more.  I used to read everyday and read book after book after book.  I miss that simple pleasure so I've committed to reading at least one book a month.  This month I'm reading Lewis Carroll's, Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass.  I've never read it and I think it's about time!

Another goal is to work on sewing or other crafting everyday.  I was excited to come across the 20 Minute Challenge from MarmaladeRose.  A group of bloggers have committed to crafting at least 20 minutes a day for a year!  Although I haven't officially signed up, I am committed to 20 minutes a day.  I look forward to seeing what I can accomplish.  If you would like to read about the challenge or join the group you can do that at MarmaladeRose.

Lastly, please go visit Audrey's Country Crafts, the blog and the Etsy shop!  You can get lost there for hours!!   And thank you Audrey for featuring my blog on your Mish Mash Monday!!

How did you spend your Monday?  Whatever you did, I hope you had a good day!!
