I have a good excuse for not being around for a while. I had knee surgery a couple of weeks ago and I just haven't felt up to doing much of anything.
Back in December of 2010 I injured my knee and found out I had torn the meniscus. The only way to fix it is with surgery. I didn't want to go through it, so I did exercises to strengthen my knee and lived on Tylenol. As the year went on, I was able to do less and less and my quality of life was suffering. Not to mention, it was keeping my family from doing the things they wanted to do, because I couldn't walk much.
This past November, after turning down the chance to go to NYC to the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, I decided to go ahead and schedule the surgery after the holidays. But just my luck, in the middle of December, I injured the same knee again. This time I was completely chair bound barely able to walk. The doctor confirmed I had torn the meniscus on the other side of the same knee. There was no more putting off the inevitable.
So, I had the surgery and I'm slowly on the mend. I hope you will stick with me as I recover and take my time getting back in the swing of things.

I totally understand. I had knee replacements on both knees a few years ago, and the recovery time is challenging. Take your time and don't rush the healing process. In the end you will be happy that you took care of it and can enjoy life like you used to.

My father-in-law had knee surgery several years ago, and he was a little slow to get back up and moving, too. Just take your time and feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! Glad the surgery is behind you and you can move forward on healing!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your knee but hope it get better soon and you're back on your feet before you know it.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about this. :-( One of the teachers that I work with, her mom recently had to have that same surgery and she has really had to take it easy to get fully mended. Make sure you rest up and hopefully you will be up and about in no time!
ReplyDeleteSending healing hugs your way!
xo
Annette, sorry to hear about the incident with your knee. No one wishes to endure surgery but at times it is unavoidable. Once your knee has healed, you'll be grateful that it was done and that you can return to living your life the way it was meant to be lived.
ReplyDeleteWish I had such a worthy excuse for my own blog absence. :)
Best wishes with the recuperation. I'm sure it's not fun at all but it'll be worth it once you're able to bend and bobble about. You're in my thoughts!
ReplyDeleteThinking of you my Dear :)
ReplyDeleteTake Care and know we will be here wishing you well :)
Have a lovely Weekend, Cheers, T. :)
I think everyone is in hibernation this year - get yourself better! XOXO
ReplyDeleteOuch! I hope your knee heals quickly!
ReplyDeleteThe silver lining...at least it was the same knee...and not the other one that you injured the second time!
