Focus On Life Week 22 ~ In Bloom

It's the last Saturday in May and we're focusing on what's in bloom.  We have lots of honeysuckle blooming and it smells so sweet!

My daughter gave me a red bud tree for Mother's Day and although the blooms are long gone, it is getting new leaves.

Don't forget to see the other blooms below!

Focus On Life Week 21 ~ Fill in the Blanks

This week, Sally told us to take a moment and pay attention to patterns of our day or the unexpected.  Then we were to fill in the blanks:
At or in (the time of day) I (what are you doing or what's happening in a photo).

At least once a day, I wish we could move closer to my granddaughter.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Fairies, Gnomes, and Family

This past weekend was one I had been looking forward to for quite some time.  My son came from Denver, my sister was here and of course my daughter and granddaughter all came to celebrate Mother's day and my birthday which fell on the same day this year.  It was the first time both kids were here at the same time in almost two years!

We spent a day at AnnMarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center where they were having their 5th annual Fairies in the Garden.  It was so much fun to see all the fairy houses, gnome homes, birdhouses, and sculptures.  They even had dress up clothes for the kids.  Shylee chose a tutu skirt, purple fairy wings and a crown.  The weather was perfect.  Not too hot, not too cool, just the right about of sun and clouds and no humidity.  My only complaint about the weekend is that it ended way too soon!

Have a fabulous day!

Focus On Life Week 20 ~ The View About The Ground

This week, Sally told us to change our perspective and take a look down to see what's going on about the ground.  The irises around my mailbox started blooming this week, but I was sad to see some of them laying on the ground.  Seems the mail truck gets too close and has knocked them over.

Focus On Life Week 18 ~ In Your (Their) Hands

It's May (already!) and we have a new topic for the month, In, At, and About.   This week's prompt had me stumped until I saw my husband sitting at the table doing homework.  It wasn't just that he had a pen in his hand, but the fact that he has always believed that our future is in his hands and he works so very hard to provide.

Learning As I Go

I just love having my fabric in a cabinet where I can see everything I have.  It makes it so much fun and easier to pull fabrics for a project instead of digging through bags that are scattered everywhere.

I thought I had this little quilt all figured out, but when I pulled the fabric for each part of the quilt, I decided I didn't like the red fabric for the bird.  It was too dark and didn't stand out enough with the brown fabric for the tree or the green for the leaves.  But the bright orange fabric just popped and tied all the other colors together.

I've never done a project like this so I'm learning as I go.  For instance, I should have read the fine print on the fabric adhesive.  If I had, I would have realized it isn't meant for sewing.  Thankfully I didn't adhere anything to the blue fabric, but I did use it on the bird.  And I got the sticky stuff all over the ironing board cover and it won't come off.  Even after washing, it's still sticky.  So, after getting a sewing friendly adhesive and new cover, I'm ready to start again.

Have you tried anything new lately?
