Focus On Life Week 27 ~ Celebration

Our theme for July is "Let's Celebrate", and this week's prompt is celebration.  This was the perfect week for celebration here in the USA as we celebrated Independence Day.  I went to the VA home to take photos of the flags.  I have a thing for our flag and all things Americana.

I hope you're having a happy weekend!

Fairies, Gnomes, and Family

This past weekend was one I had been looking forward to for quite some time.  My son came from Denver, my sister was here and of course my daughter and granddaughter all came to celebrate Mother's day and my birthday which fell on the same day this year.  It was the first time both kids were here at the same time in almost two years!

We spent a day at AnnMarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center where they were having their 5th annual Fairies in the Garden.  It was so much fun to see all the fairy houses, gnome homes, birdhouses, and sculptures.  They even had dress up clothes for the kids.  Shylee chose a tutu skirt, purple fairy wings and a crown.  The weather was perfect.  Not too hot, not too cool, just the right about of sun and clouds and no humidity.  My only complaint about the weekend is that it ended way too soon!

Have a fabulous day!

Christmas 2013

I hope you had a most wonderful Christmas with the ones you love.  The only thing that would have made my celebration better, is if Sean had been here.  But we had a good time with a tree to decorate,

A note to read

A stocking to pick through

Presents to open

Bubble wrap to pop

A new keyboard to play (the only thing she asked for from Santa was a piano)

A helicopter to fly

Birthday wishes to make

And lots of hugs

And it all went by way too fast.  And they went home before I was ready for them to leave.  And another Christmas is done.

I'm looking forward to the new year.  Are you?

A Lunch Cruise in Baltimore

We celebrated Michael's birthday a second time when we took a lunch cruise beginning at the Inner Harbor of Baltimore.  This was Michael's birthday present from our children and it was a fun way to spend an afternoon.  There was dining, dancing, entertainment and some incredible views!  The weather was cool and crisp and the sky was blue with abundant sunshine.  A perfect fall day.

When you look at the first photo, you can see a bride and groom on the top deck!  They had the ceremony before we left and the reception during the cruise!

Baltimore is home to the hospital ship Comfort.  It goes anywhere in the world where it's needed.

If you're ever in the area, this is a fun way to spend an afternoon.  Even if you don't take the cruise, the Inner Harbor and downtown have enough to keep you busy for days!

I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!!!

A Perfect Weekend

Have you ever had one of those weekends where you were totally relaxed and stress free AND at home?  It's rare that I feel that way without going somewhere to get away from it all, but this weekend was one of those rare ocassions for me.

Sean and Erin (our son and daughter) and Shylee came down on Saturday to celebrate Michael's birthday.  We packed a picnic lunch and headed for the Patuxent River to spend the afternoon.  It was 78 degrees, breezy and low humidity.  In other words...perfect!  And there were no crowds to get in the way!
We ate, played on the playground (Michael got some quality grandpa time), walked on the beach and enjoyed each others company!

Sunday was another perfect day because I spent it in the sewing room creating and learning how to miter corners!
