Thankful Thursday ~ Tissues

...especially the kind with lotion!  I'm new to the agony of allergies.  They started about 3 years ago and continually get worse.  It was an unusually runny drippy day and I found myself carrying around the box of tissues from room to room.  By the end of the day my nose was raw and so sore!  I found myself in the kitchen without the tissues and had to grab a paper towel and almost cried because it was so rough on my poor sore nose!  Yep, those tissues with lotion are the best.  And I went out and bought so many boxes that I will never need a paper towel again!

A Feature a Favicon and a Giveaway

It was a surprise and an honor when I was asked if my blog could be featured on the Etsy Blog Team blog.  Of course I said yes and you can see the feature here.  If you are looking for a place to promote your blog, I recommend joining the Etsy Blog Team.  Not only can you promote your blog, but you will find tutorials for all things blog related, answers to blogging questions, giveaways and so much more.
For example, there was a tutorial from Scootchidoo Too to add a favicon.  That's the little icon up there on the tab that says So Many Memories.  It was so easy, and believe me, if I could do it, anyone can do it!

There is a fantastic giveaway at Craft Gossip for this Elna Sew Fun sewing machine.
Hurry and enter, the deadline is midnight March 31st.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!!!

Spring to Winter and Back Again

Typically, where I live in Maryland, we don't get much snow.  A couple inches here and there and that's it.  Last year was the exception with back to back blizzards, but this year was pretty typical.  We also very seldom see snow this late into March.  Yesterday was the exception to that!
Here is how everything looked on Saturday.

This is how it looked on Sunday!

By mid-afternoon, the sun was shining, the temperature was in the upper 40's and the snow was gone!
It made for a very pretty and peaceful Sunday morning while it lasted.

How was your Sunday???

I Heart Faces Photo Challenge ~ Slice of Life

I don't know how I managed to have Shylee's face focused, but I love how this picture turned out.  She takes the dogs' bones so they will chase her through the house!  It's fun for her and torture for the dogs!

Have a wonderful Sunday!!
I thought I would take a leap and enter a photo challenge at I Heart Faces

A Day At The Park

We had the privilege of keeping our Sweet Pea for a whole week while her mommy went to a convention in Boston.  We spent an afternoon at the park on the Patuxent River and I got to play with the camera!

Have you ever found a heart shaped rock?  I found one for the first time!

And then I turned around, looked down, and there was another one!

It was a fun day with Sweet Pea and I can't wait to do it again!

Have you had a fun day recently?

Tickle Me Tuesday

It's Tuesday, and that means it's time to show you what's been tickling my fancy.  There many shops from Etsy that are donating sales from their items to help the Japanese relief efforts.  These are some of my favorites.

Silent Sunday ~ Super Moon

Not so silent again  today!  Last night there wasn't just a full moon but a "super" moon.  It was the closest the moon has been to the earth in 18 years.  As it was rising orange it was huge!  Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me and had to wait til I got home to take pictures.  By then it was higher in the sky and smaller.  I had bought a new telephoto lens earlier in the day so I was trying to get used to it and the settings on my camera at the same time.  I guess they turned out okay, but I've got a lot to learn!

Happy Sunday!!!

Thankful Thursday

Every Thursday I share something I'm thankful for.
In light of the tragic events in Japan, I'm thankful that in my little corner of the world, life is good.  It's not perfect by any means and I know it will never be perfect.  But we're happy and healthy.  Michael has a good job for now, we have a nice home, cars that run, food to eat.  I know how blessed I am.
And I am thankful!

Vintage Goodness

Last week, when I spent a few days with my daughter, we went to two of our favorite antique malls.  I'm always on the lookout for vintage linens, trims, laces and buttons.  I came home with lots of  "new" old stuff and I can't wait to get started on all the ideas I have!

I found lots of hankies.

Colorful, simple and stitched linen towels.

Beautifully embroidered tablecloth with matching napkins.

A round pink and white tablecloth...my favorite color!

Embroidered table scarves.

Gorgeous cotton decorator fabric.

Fun trim.

Jars of buttons and miscellaneous sewing supplies.

I had so much fun picking and choosing what I wanted.  The best part is that I'm inspired every time I look at all this vintage goodness sitting in my sewing room!

Thankful Thursday ~ Nutella

Every Thursday I share something I'm thankful for.  Today I'm thankful for Nutella!  Yes, that chocolatey hazelnut goodness that comes in a jar!  I discovered this heavenly spread when we lived in Germany 20 years ago.  It has been an ongoing love affair ever since!

It's good on a graham cracker or Nilla wafer.  It's better than jelly on a peanut butter sandwich.  It's just divine straight out of the jar on a big 'ol spoon!
You can check out the website and read all about the history and get lots of other information too.

Just a Little Peek

I went digging through my stash of vintage linens and found this little embroidered table scarf.  It inspired me to do some embellishing and turn it into something new.  Here's a sneak peek!

I won't tell you what it's going to be, but I think you will be surprised!
What are you working on today???
