This week, Sally told us to change our perspective and take a look down to see what's going on about the ground. The irises around my mailbox started blooming this week, but I was sad to see some of them laying on the ground. Seems the mail truck gets too close and has knocked them over.

Oh no! Poor irises!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing what you discover when looking down once in a while :)
I love irises. I planted some last year, but the summer heat killed them. Hope yours recover from the mail truck assault.
ReplyDeleteMy irises aren't even close to blooming... I'd be putting a fence up to keep the mail truck at bay!
ReplyDeleteAwesome photo - very pretty colors. But you're right, it is rather sad that they get run over a bit.
ReplyDeleteToo bad the irises were run down. Mine were bloomed out 3 weeks ago never last long enough :(
ReplyDeleteLOL, love the subject you chose! When someone asks me what flower I am, I always say I am an iris. You can park a care on me and I will persevere!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I feel ya...I had to move my flowers from around the mailbox......But the look great next to my fence so we are all happy! Good luck with yours!
ReplyDeleteOh no how sad your iris were ran over. I love iris as they remind me of my visits to Grandmothers house when I was young.
ReplyDeleteOh, poor things, they do seem to fall over at the slightest provocation, though! sweet picture!
ReplyDeleteSo sad the mail truck drove over them, I think they are still pretty and full of color.

Oh Annette, it makes me sad that people are so neglectful :(
ReplyDeleteThey still have their glowing colours though :)
I remember, years ago, seeing our mailman, chopping down the ivy around our mail box, when I asked him what he thought he was doing he said he had every right to be doing it, nothing is allowed to be in his way delivering the mail. I told him he should have just told us.
Hope your were able to cut them and pop them into a vase :)
Have a wonderful weekend, cheers, T. :)
Oh Dear Annette don't you wish other people/drivers had the same love of our plants as we do?
ReplyDeleteI just love irises as you do!
Thanks for your sweet comment on my
lace and doily quilt.
Hugs,
Suzy
Awww! The irises are still pretty even when knocked over.
ReplyDeleteBummer about them getting knocked over! But they still look pretty down there :)
ReplyDeleteAnnette, it is a slightly different perspective. :)
ReplyDeleteStill sad to see such lovely blooms laying on the ground. I hope, as T said, that you were able to cut the blooms and enjoy their beauty for a while.
