Focus On Life~Week 27~Texture

We touch a lot of stuff throughout the day.  Ever notice how many different textures your fingertips feel?  Probably not.  Unless you are purposely feeling something for it's texture we really don't pay attention.  This week focus on how things feel.  Then snap a shot of that texture!

I've been touching a lot of fabric this week as I go through my stash.  The majority of it is cotton but I also have some silks, flannel, fleece, satin, microsuede, and this oh so very soft minky fabric.  I bought it to make a baby blanket but never got around to it.  Fabric comes in so many different textures and I can't help but touch it and feel it when I'm wandering through a fabric shop.

I didn't touch this with my fingers, but the silky smooth creamy texture of this orange creamsicle pie was just heavenly!

Hope you're having a fabulous weekend!

  3. I am very tactile and texture is how I find the quality clothing at the thrifts. I just walk down the isle "flipping" through the hangers and my hand stops at the quality fabrics. I totally understand why you do that at the fabric store. I am very much about how the fabric feels. I think some call in "the hand".

  4. Yes! habit learned from my mother, I feel every texture in every clothing shop and I sure don't need to look at the label to tell if there is polyester. My fingers are most often fooled by nice rayons though

  10. My fingers are in big need of pampering at this season of the year I'm afraid I'd stick to silk if I tried to fondle it!

  11. I'm the same Annette, have to touch every bolt of fabric that catches my eye. That mink-like fabric reminds me of chenille, they used to make a lot of robes and spreads out of it - I loved it because it was 100% cotton and easy care. :)

That pie has my mouth watering it does look smooth and silky and absolutely delicious.

Hope your weekend is fun and relaxing. Enjoy. :)

  16. Fabric is a perfect subject for texture! When you mentioned baby blankets, I thought about my nieces and nephews when they were young and how a piece of fabric would comfort them - often becoming unrecognizable after all the petting.

  18. What a great call-back to the silky soft texture of baby blankies. Maybe that is why we as adults still feel comforted by the silky smooth feel of them between our fingers.

I often think fabric speaks to us thru our fingers.
