Here I Go Again

As some of you know, I injured my knee and had surgery last year.  It took a long time to recover and I still am not able to stand or walk for long periods of time.  A few weeks ago, I experienced pain in the other knee that never quite went away.  Last week, as I started up the stairs to go to bed, that same knee popped and I couldn't walk.  Thank goodness for sofa beds and crutches!

It turns out I probably tore something, but the arthritis is so bad in that knee that repairing the tear wouldn't help.  The bottom line is that I need a knee replacement in both knees.  In the meantime though, I got a cortisone shot in the knee and it feels pretty wonderful!  I'll be getting a different kind of shot in the other knee in a few weeks and maybe I won't have to have the surgery for a few months.  Here's hoping anyway!

I'm sorry for being so absent and not visiting all the wonderful blogs I follow.  I'm hoping to get caught up with you soon.

Have a fabulous Friday!

  1. So sorry Annette! :( That's just awful for you. Thank goodness for the injections to take the edge off the pain and help you get around in the meantime. I know a total knee replacement is quite the journey. I know this both from school and from a co-worker that had one done last year, but the results can be wonderful. I hope in the meantime, the doctors can keep it manageable for you.

Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way!

  2. Oh no! I was wondering why I hadn't seen Thankful Thursday in so long but you were leaving me comments on my blog so I figured you were just busy. So sorry to hear you were busy with THIS and just when you were so close to having your sewing room ready to start playing.
Sending positive thoughts your way for a speedy recovery!!

  3. Oh no! I hope the shots help enough to keep away from surgery as long as you can! Sending wishes for a speedy recovery!

  4. Wishing you a very speedy recovery. xx

  5. Oh my Gosh Annette, I am so sorry, just when you thought you were going to be going back upstairs to your sewing room. (I hope you were able for a while :)

I really hope that you can get the surgery done and are not in too much pain, keep getting those shots and rest lots :)

Wishing you well and sending you positive energy and big hugs.

Take Care my friend, cheers, T. :)

  6. Oh Annette, I'm so sorry to hear that. Sending hugs and prayers your way. I hope you don't need another surgery...
    feel better soon.

  7. Annette, I am so sorry to hear your other knee has started to give you problems. At least it is nice to know that they are able to do something for the pain.

No one likes to go through surgery and I've heard that knee replacement surgery takes time to recuperate from. I've known a couple of people who have had knee replacements, one had both knees done (he had bad knees due to old sports injuries - when he was much younger he played high school and college football). He said it took some time to recover but afterwards he was able to do so much more and was pain free.

Take it easy and take care. :)

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment.
