National Sewing Month

Did you know September is National Sewing Month?  I didn't know until last night when my husband informed me.  And this morning when I finally looked at my newest JoAnn's flyer, it was right there!

I'm not sure why this has me so excited.  I almost feel like a kid at Christmas...all excited and giddy with anticipation!  But what am I anticipating?

I think I've figured it out.  I see this month as an opportunity to make a new commitment to my Etsy shop and my desire to try new and different techniques and learn something new.  I'm anticipating spending more time sewing and less time thinking about it!  Now that's exciting!

Check out the website highlighted above for ideas, inspiration, contests and projects!

  1. National Sewing Month is perfectly timed to lure us all back indoors as summer begins to fade into fall. I, too, am feeling the "shift" and getting excited about sprucing up my Etsy and spending some of the daylight hours in the art room!

  2. Sew, girl...Sew! Once you get back into the sewing groove, you will once again find it hard to put aside. Try new ideas...pair fabrics and patterns that you never would have thought of before. Put all the sewing rules aside and just get creative. You will be surprised at what you have inside your creative mind. Now get sewing!!

  3. It must be in the air, I too have been trying to tidy up my sewing space so I can actually see my sewing machines again and get down to some serious (but easy) sewing, so I can use up some of the fabric that has my machines buried in the first place (He! He!)

Have fun sewing, look forward to your creations :)

    Have a lovely long weekend, T. :)

  4. I have never been able to sew and believe me I've tried! My Mother was a beautiful seamstress and my sister also received her talent. I was blessed with the love of baking and creating but even still I would love to sew!
Blessings on the working hands :)

  7. Yay for sewing! I'm still quite the beginner but I've enjoyed my projects so far. I vote we add two or three hours to every day in September so that we can all have more time for our sewing projects :)
