Wednesday's Words of Wisdom

Life is not easy for any of us. But what of that? We must have perseverance and above all confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something, and that this thing, at whatever cost, must be attained.  ~ Madame Marie Curie

I love this quote!  It makes me realize that if I don't believe in not only myself, but also my talent, then I might as well quit now.  How can perseverance, self-confidence, and belief in our craft not equal success?

If you're like me, you are your own worst critic!  I can sew something up and convince myself that it's not worth giving away let alone selling.  When someone compliments my work, I find it difficult to accept the compliment because it's not THAT good.  Well, gosh darn it.....I AM good at what I do!  I have a talent for sewing and it's ok to say so and more importantly, it's ok to believe it!  If I don't believe in what I do, why should someone else?

This has been a real eye opener for me!  I sincerely hope it inspires you in some way too!  I'm anxious to know what you think about this quote!!!

  1. I love that quote too. But seriously when you are exposing yourself to large doses of radiation anything you say is awesome. :)

It took me a long time to believe I was worthy to be an artist but I am over that, I know I am a kick a.. seamstress and now I have given myself permission to be a Photographer too, do what you enjoy and see what follows :) T.

  2. I struggle with this everyday!!!!!!! I think working alone in a home studio is part of the problem....nothing but our own critical eyes..no friend in the next cubicle to cheer us on.

  3. I was more surprised than anyone when I discovered that I was both creative and talented in my designs and creations. I spent an entire lifetime thinking I had absolutely no creativity or artistic talent at all - to find that I possess both and they just keep getting stronger. (But it only takes one little mistake to bring back a good case of humility. LOL)

  4. Well my blog friend you know I am standing in those same shoes !!! Isn't that awful ? I think it is soooo much easier to promote someone elses work you love then your own ( And you know I am a big fan of your work!)We all need to give ourselves a kick in the ass and pat on the back ! LOL (((Hugs)) for the inspiration, Patty

  5. I love this quote. The "confidence in ourselves" and "at whatever the cost" are the parts that trip me up on being what I think I'm gifted to be. It makes me wonder if I've misunderstood God's intention and that really what *I* think is my gift isn't what he bestowed on me at all. But then again, that my be the lack of confidence speaking.

    Great quote, great post!
