What is abstract? The use of a visual language of form, color, and line to create a composition which may exist with a degree of independence from visual references in the world.
All things have form, color, and lines. We just need to step back and step away from the literal image you see through the lens. Take into account the lines, color, or form and look for a more figurative composition. Take this week and step out of reality and change your view of things.
This was difficult for me to understand at first. I understand abstract art, but I just couldn't figure out what it meant in photography. After googling 'abstract photography' and looking at hundreds of photos, I finally got it. I couldn't wait to go out with my camera and see what I could come up with. Between the rain and other things that had to be done, I wasn't able to get out, but I did find a couple of pictures I took before. I played with them in PicMonkey and really like the results.
This is the before picture of a bicycle tire.
And here is the after.
Here is the before of weeds in the yard.
And here is the after.

Cool - I love your interpretation of abstract! Both pictures are gorgeous, you did, indeed, understand the concept and pictured it perfectly.
ReplyDeleteSee you had as much fun with phot editing as I did, but that first shott of the tire spokes, is great just the way it is!
ReplyDeleteThat second reminds me of those ones you are supposed to stare at and another picture appears - magic photos? I don't remember what they are called, only that I could never see it! Love all the angles on the first too
ReplyDeleteAhhhh...why I forget the picmonkey =(

ReplyDeleteOh wow! You really nailed this challenge. I must say that I'm partial to the before of the bicycle wheel though. That might be because I'm currently getting ready to go out on a bike ride myself ;) Ha!
ReplyDeleteBoth photos are fantastic! I'm partial to purple and flowers so the second one, combined with the blurring effect, really draws my eye!
