Tickle Me Tuesday

I am so excited I can hardly contain myself.  I have two sisters and both of them are coming here on Friday.  One of them lives in Arkansas but works in NY and I've been able to see her three times in the last year.  It's been three years since I've seen my other sister who also lives in Arkansas.  The two of them will be in NYC for Thanksgiving and then they're coming here for a day!  I can't wait!

Since sisters are tickling my fancy, I went looking for sister items on Etsy.  These are my favorites!

Tickle Me Tuesday

White fudge covered Oreos are my most favorite Oreos of all.  They're available for a limited time each year and I was all kinds of excited when I saw them last week.  They really do tickle my fancy!

Tickle Me Tuesday ~ Blogtoberfest Day 11

I have a love for all things vintage but especially linens.  I use them in my sewing projects and enjoy seeing how others use them in their projects.  Here's what I found.

Tickle Me Tuesday ~ Blogtoberfest Day 4

Since fall temperatures have arrived, I have been forced to let go of summer.  There was no easing in to it.  One day it was 88 degrees and humid, the next it was 58 and breezy.  The positive side of this is that the critters I talked about in my last post, won't be coming out to terrorize me!

These fall items from Etsy are tickling my fancy this week.

Tickle Me Tuesday ~ Pincushions

Hello again!  I hope your day has been a good one so far.  I am behind already this morning, but that just seems to be the norm anymore.  Does anyone ever really get caught up?

I thought I would continue the theme today with National Sewing Month and show you some pretty fabulous pincushions.  All of them are handmade and can be found on Etsy.

Tickle Me Tuesday ~ Sewing Machines

Since it is National Sewing Month, I thought it would be fun to browse Etsy for vintage sewing machines.  These are some of my favorites.

I'm joining Yes Teacher for Tickle Me Tuesday.

In honor of National Sewing Month, I'm sharing a sewing tip at the end of each post.  Here is today's tip.
Clean your sewing machine after each project is finished.  Cleaning out the lint and threads ensures your machine will perform at it's best.  Follow the manufacturer's directions for specific cleaning tips and oiling times.

If you have a sewing tip, I would love to hear from you!

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

The Help

I'm joining Sarah at Yes Teacher for Tickle Me Tuesday where we share what is tickling our fancy this week.

I finished reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett after it sat on my end table for over a year!  I kept hearing about how good it was and the movie is coming out next month, so I decided to read a book before seeing the movie for a change!

The Help takes place in Jackson, Mississippi in the early sixties.  The story is told by three different women.  Eugenia "Skeeter" Phelan, is fresh out of college and dreaming of being a writer while her mother is dreaming of her getting married.  Aibileen is a maid who is raising her seventeenth white child.  Something inside her changed when her son died at work while his white bosses looked the other way.  Minny is a maid who can cook like no one else but she can't control her tongue.  The three of them join together to work on a project that puts them all at risk.

It is a great book that grabbed me at the beginning.  It is funny, sad, heartwarming and thought provoking.  I recommend it and hope you let me know what you think if you decide to read it.

Tickle Me Tuesday ~ Cold Drinks

I have a serious addiction do diet soda.  It got to the point that I didn't drink anything else at all.  Not water, tea, juice or anything...well except for the occasional glass of wine!  Knowing I needed to break this habit, I started drinking water.  I like water, but I get tired of it and go back to the sodas.  Then I discovered Crystal light.  It's amazing!  Each one I've tried is very flavorful and quenches my thirst.  My new favorite is the wild strawberry.  It's even pink!  I still have my soda, but just one a day.  And I don't miss it as much as I thought I would!

What do you drink during the day?  Is there anything else out there I should try?

Tickle Me Tuesday ~ Pride and Prejudice

My daughter, Erin , and I watched Pride and Prejudice recently, and I can't stop thinking about it!  I mean, honestly, Mr. Darcy just makes me swoon!  The book and the movie are both at the top of my favorites list.  Here are some fun finds I found on Etsy that are tickling my fancy this week.

Tickle Me Tuesday

It's Tuesday and that means I'm joining Yes, Teacher! for Tickle Me Tuesday.  This is the day we share what has been tickling our fancy!
First is this apron that my granddaughter, Shylee, finger painted (with the help of mommy) and gave me for Mother's Day.  I love those little hand prints!

And then there are the Godiva Chocolates my daughter, Erin, gave me.  They melted before I got them home to take pictures, but each piece is made of milk chocolate 'clam' shells with a ball of hazelnut chocolate cream in the center.  Think Nutella sandwiched by milk chocolate!  It's chocolate heaven!

And to follow up on last week's post, I found the two flavors of Newtons cookies I was looking for.  The fig and honey tasted like graham crackers and the chocolate raspberry was just divine...my absolute favorite of the four!
