Teaser Tuesdays

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.
Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Lost in contemplation of the greenery, he failed to see the main trail fork down to the river, where it led to a zamba, a "bridge" of yak hair rope lashed together and strung across the torrent between two boulders.  For the second time, Mortenson had lost his way.
~p.23  Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin
The astonishing, uplifting story of a real-life Indiana Jones and his remarkable humanitarian campaign in the Taliban's backyard.

I've just started this book but it is very good.  Kind of makes me wish I was more adventerous!  Actually, a LOT more adventerous!!

  1. This is one of the memes I really like!

"Now that we had erased the mortgage, the job, the long commute and the cushy life in the suburbs, and sent the kids to school every day, I knew that this long chapter of resentment could end. But I would have to stop letting the past color the future."

~ page 127, "Halfway to Each Other: How a year in Italy brought our family home" by Susan Pohlman (an advance reader's copy; on sale Sept 2010)

I actually just finished this book and loved it. She says so many things folks in long-term marriages think and feel and do ... but there's also a lot of humor and heart throughout the book.

  2. It's a great book; you'll enjoy it, I think!

    My teaser is here.

  3. +JMJ+

May I confess that I was more "teased" by your description of the story than by the two sentences from it? I've seen this book around but never picked it up, but now you've made me interested. =)

  4. I agree with the above, your description definitely piqued my interest! My teasers are at The Crowded Leaf.

  5. My daughter started reading this one and for some reason just gave up. Your teaser sounds good. Yak hair must be really strong if they can make a "bridge" out of it. Details like that make a book interesting to me.

  6. My husband won this a long time ago but he never received it! I'd love to read it if it ever arrives.

  7. Great teaser! I hope you will check out mine for Stephanie Meyer's latest novel The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner! Also, if you check back on my blog this Friday I have huge news about the novels I had been submitting to agents/publishers!
