Focus On Life Week 5 ~ Get Outside

For the month of February our focus is Cabin Fever.  Sally says, "sometimes the perfect fix for temporary relief of cabin fever is simply to get outside, even if you just step out on the porch.  Get out of the house and focus on the change that cooler temps brings to your surroundings."

I have cabin fever for sure!  But I do prefer being warm rather than freezing, so it's my own fault for not getting out much.  However, an interesting thing happened while I was out in the sub-zero wind chills this week.  I found it exhilarating!  I felt alive and walked with a quicker step, getting the blood pumping.  Of course it only lasted a few minutes before I was frozen and came back inside to thaw out!

Have a wonderful weekend!

  9. Just have to bundle a little bit more - this winter is making me say things like, " hmmm not bad out there" when it's 10°

Then I wonder what's happened to me.

I love the bird flying photo

  10. It's so true about changing your view even if it's just for a few minutes. A small group of us have taken to walking 20-30 mins on our lunch break at school and it's so refreshing. We do it even when the wind is howling or it's raining, clears the mind and get's me ready for the rest of the afternoon's lectures.

    Great shots!

  15. My favorite is the one of the brown weeds against the snow. A great bunch of cabin fever antidotes.

  17. I tried to go for a walk on Tuesday... got to the top of the driveway... was walking into the wind... so I collected the garbage can and went and made beads in my toasty warm study for 2 hours... forget the walk!

  19. Great challenge! The photos are beautiful. I guess it's not so bad to step outside in the dead of winter to take in the beauty out there. Maybe I should try this!

  23. No waaayyy! I am not brave enough to handle these freezing Illinois temps! I have cabin fever too, though. I can't wait for it to warm up so I can open the windows again and get outside!

  24. So true! If you keep your ears and eyes open, just a walk around the block can bring fresh new things to your day!

  25. Annette - Lovely winter photos.

I like to look at snow but would never be able to live in a climate where it snowed, my blood is just to tropical.
My lips turn blue and my teeth chatter when the thermometer dips down into the 50's. :D
