Focus On Life Week 3 ~ Black and White Selfie

I was not happy when I saw this week's challenge from Sally!  I knew it was coming sooner or later, but I was really hoping it wouldn't come at all.  In Sally's words:

We are all beauty inside and out,  it is only our own eyes that are so critical of ourselves, at a drop of a hat we can name a half dozen features that we feel don't make the cut.  This week we will focus on what we feel so self conscious about, ourselves!
Show that beautiful face!

Last year for this prompt I took a photo in the mirror of me hiding behind the camera.  I decided not to hide this time.  I am determined to learn to love myself for who I am and not what I perceive myself to look like to others.  I have to tell you though, I'm glad there is a "soften" feature in Picmonkey!
Have a great weekend!

  1. Hi A. :)

You have such thoughtful eyes, your skin looks lovely and your hair has a sheen to it and your eye brows and lips are beautiful shapes. :)

You and I have the same issues (I believe) and I think I am so afraid of what people would think of me that I have not had a photo taken in years and I do hide behind the camera, so more power to you girl friend :)

    Have a lovely Weekend, cheers, T. :)

  2. We are our own worst critics. We are also all beautiful - it's not the outer but the inner. The outer fades and wrinkles and in my case sags and turns grey. But the inner beauty glows for all to see as it does in your eyes.

  11. I was also hoping that Sally would not ask for a self-portrait again. I should have known that she would not forget about it. Nice shot of the real you!

  12. Great pic Annette!! You have the most beautiful skin! It's hard to do those self portraits, we all tend to be so critical of ourselves.

Great job for not hiding yourself.!!

    Happy Weekend!

  18. I hear you beautiful Annette. I spent the last year trying hard to apply the idea of being my own best friend. I adore my best friend and would never say anything hurtful to her.... so when my mind wanders that way I picture her smiling face and kit really does quiet things down at least. :) Nice to see you!

  19. There is nothing more beautiful than someone who is real, who owns every line on their face as a map of where they have been. There is nothing I would like more than to erase all those lines around my eyes but I know that they are like arrows pointing to my eyes wherein lies all my power. Celebrate the uniqueness of you, because I see a kind and thoughtful person in this picture...that is you! Enjoy the day! Erin

  20. You look great.. last years photo was sitting on the you might like line ... Over half of you was visible last year.. I set my camera on B&W now I have to see if I can reverse it... My favorite too for this week was custom rotate so that I could straighten out the tiles in the bathroom!

  25. Annette, you are beautiful, and I am so glad you decided to show yourself this year! That line "it is only our own eyes that are so critical of ourselves" is so true. I love that you are determined to love yourself for the beautiful woman that you are.
