Learning As I Go

I just love having my fabric in a cabinet where I can see everything I have.  It makes it so much fun and easier to pull fabrics for a project instead of digging through bags that are scattered everywhere.

I thought I had this little quilt all figured out, but when I pulled the fabric for each part of the quilt, I decided I didn't like the red fabric for the bird.  It was too dark and didn't stand out enough with the brown fabric for the tree or the green for the leaves.  But the bright orange fabric just popped and tied all the other colors together.

I've never done a project like this so I'm learning as I go.  For instance, I should have read the fine print on the fabric adhesive.  If I had, I would have realized it isn't meant for sewing.  Thankfully I didn't adhere anything to the blue fabric, but I did use it on the bird.  And I got the sticky stuff all over the ironing board cover and it won't come off.  Even after washing, it's still sticky.  So, after getting a sewing friendly adhesive and new cover, I'm ready to start again.

Have you tried anything new lately?

  2. Annette, wonderful choice of fabrics and I love the bright, cheerful orange for the birdie.

As for trying something new, at the moment I'm making a bracelet that goes outside of the box that I'm normally comfortable with. Funny part is that I'm really enjoying it. Sometimes something new and different stretches us, makes us see other potentials - it can be very enlightening. :)

  6. Oh I'm loving the little Orange Bird :)

I have been taking photos with my little pink Fuji instax camera, if you saw them you would think I had never taken a photo before, a lot of practice is needed but it is fun :)

I should scan then and share one day :)

Looking forward to seeing the finished quilt, cheers, T. :)
