Sewing Again

Hello dear readers.  I hope you're having a great day.  It's still gray and gloomy here but the sun is supposed to come out by the end of the week.  I might have to have a party to celebrate!

I finally made it up to the sewing room and have been working on a new idea for the shop.  One of the many bins in that room is full of small fabric scraps.  You know, the pieces that are too big to throw away but too small for much of anything.  Well, I had the idea to make fabric gift tags.  It would be something that could incorporate  hand stitching and embroidery along with the machine sewing.  This is the first one and it's not quite finished yet.  It still needs the ribbon for hanging!

I'm also working on new sachets.  The sewing room always smells so good when I pull out the lavender.

What are you working on?

  1. Hi Annette!

I have 3 large boxes full of scraps! Your gift tag idea is fabulous! Although I will probably skip the embroidery-- I'm too impatient ;-)
    Your lavender sachet is beautiful!!!
    have a nice day!

p.s. wish I could send some sun over...we've had two gorgeous sunny days :)

  2. What a great idea to use up the scraps!! I too have a whole drawer full...I never seem to use them for much, but can't bear to toss them either.

I'm working on a Thanksgiving table runner, but I'm putting more hours in at work this week due to other teachers being out sick, so I'll have little to no sewing time this week. Maybe on the weekend!

  3. I have to tell you my craft room still smells amazing from the one you sent me! I love both od these for totally different reasons they are both beautiful! I am gearing up for my first show - eek!

  4. Those tags are such a great idea! I bet they'll be really popular this Christmas season!

I'm almost finished with a new sweater.

  5. *love* that gift tag! What a cool idea :) And those sachets, well, beautiful too! Lavender is such a wonderful herb, isn't it? I'm working at work today! LOL (day job) I'd much rather be at home... :)

  6. The tags are a great idea to use up those scraps! I have so many paper scraps I need to find a project for!

  7. What a fun idea for using up all those bits and pieces. I know, I save them, too. Surely this will come in handy for something......

  8. The bags are going to be adorable, I love the one you've shown (even if it is not completely finished yet).

I've been trying to finish up a necklace, which I posted about but I'm having some distractions.
Speaking of which it's time to check on him and see how he's doing.

  9. I'm thankful the sun returned today, but eek, I could do without the mugginess! *melts*

Cute sewing projects! I'm currently working on my first zombie drawing.

  10. Beautiful work! And I have TONS of those scraps, too. Can't seem to toss them out.

  11. Great projects! I just recently went back into my sewing room after a long pause. It's such a good feeling!
