There are days it's hard to find something to be thankful for. When you're having a bad day, week, month or year, it is easy to focus on the negative, to find fault with everyone and everything. I've had one of those weeks and I've had to force myself to look beyond my circumstances and find the good and the positive.
Today I'm thankful for distractions of any kind. Playing games on the computer, pinning on pinterest, watching TV, and making and eating cookies have kept me from dwelling on things I can't change. I didn't get much of anything else done, but that's okay today.
I'm also thankful for
the sunshine after days and days of rain
the beauty of a harvest moon
the sunroof in my car...I can pretend I have a convertible!
What are you thankful for today?
To celebrate National Sewing Month, here is today's sewing tip: When choosing a thread color, remember that the thread on the spool is darker than it will appear on the fabric. Choose a spool of thread a shade lighter than your fabric.
Have a great Thursday!
Are those cookies the no bake oatmeal things????
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful my sons new job promotion...he deserved it.

Life is full of ups and downs, good moments, bad moments and some moments just last longer than others. I guess we should be thankful for the "bad" days as then we learn to truly appreciate the "good" ones.
ReplyDeleteI hope the down days have passed for you and things are brightening up. :)
ps - The cookies look sooo delicious !
Oh, cooking has always been a favorite retreat for me! It keeps my mind and body busy, so I don't have time to dwell on dark thoughts.
ReplyDeleteI am thankful for having you as a blogging friend :)
I've also been having a couple weeks like that. I'm thankful for distractions too, being able to "turn my brain off," even for brief moments, by crafting, making art, blogging, reading novels.
ReplyDeleteSo know where you are coming from "Avon Lady"! I am so thankful that I have the family & friends that I know I can always count on when things get rough. The thing in life that I find the most difficult is being the parent of grown Kids and you can't help them get over their hurdles in life. It is such a helpless feeling but than I think that it just makes them stronger people.
ReplyDeleteDistractions are a wonderful way to refresh yourself when you need to! Those cookies look delish...
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful for the fans pushing the cool air through my building, the grey clouds on the horizon portending the arrival of cooler weather, two children who are crazy yet so loveable and a husband who couldn't do more than he does for us all!
I'm thankful for bluesy R&B music that I can turn on while doing the mundane chores around the house! Wish I could have a handful of those cookies, so I guess I'm also thankful that I can only drool over the picture and not add the inches to my waistline :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh - boiled oatmeal cookies! I haven't made those in years. YUM!
ReplyDeleteI am thankful for a bumper crop of vine-rippened tomatoes this year. Enough to bring to the office every couple days so I can share a little taste of sunshine.
OMG...now I want cookies!!
ReplyDeleteWe all have days and weeks like that...good you found something to keep you busy...that usually helps me too, especially when it's something you can't change.
Today...I'm thankful for a good morning at work, an unexpected lunch with my son and an afternoon to catch up on housework and laundry (of course what am I doing but catching up on blogs)!! ;-)
Yes they are Janet!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sonya! I'm thankful for you too! xo
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful for distractions, too! Reading a good book or going for a walk always help. :-)
ReplyDeleteI am thankful every day for being able to create - it keeps me sane:):)
ReplyDeleteThose cookies look soooo good! ;-)
