Morning Has Broken~Blogtoberfest 2012 Day 12

...and I am content to sleep right through it!  I am so not a morning person.  As a student, I waited until the last possible minute to get out of bed.  As a young woman with a job, I did the same thing.  There was never enough time to fully wake up before going to school or work.  As a new mom, I learned how to get up instantly when a baby cried, but I went through the days never fully awake.

I'm at a time in my life where I can sleep in as late as I want to.  The problem is that no matter what time I get up, I still am not fully awake until around noon.  It takes awhile for the morning fog to lift and I feel energized and ready to face the day.

When I wake up, I lay in bed for awhile thinking about any dreams I had, making a mental list of what I need to do that day, flexing my ankle and bending my knee to work out any stiffness, and generally letting my mind wander.  Getting out of bed when I'm ready to prevents irritability.  When I have to get up before I'm ready, I can be quite grumpy.  It's a good thing Michael is much the same way and we're both content to not speak to each other right away.

Sometimes I wish I could wake up early and be all bright eyed and bushy tailed.  I've tried, I really have.  I'ts just not going to become the norm for me.  So don't call me or ring the door bell before 11am.  If I answer, you'll probably wish I hadn't!

Are you a morning person?

Hope you're having a fantastic Friday!

  1. Beautiful photo!
    I'm a morning person...up between 3-5am most days.
But I much prefer that to when I used to get up. When I worked nights the alarm went off at 9:30 at night...ugh!

  2. I wish I were a morning person but, unfortunately, I too can't seem to get my engine going until later in the day (closer to noon). I think it just has to do with mental wiring. I could easily stay up until the wee hours in the morning and sleep till noon. :D
On the other hand my hubby is a morning person and if he had his way would go to bed at 8 p.m. and awaken long before the sun makes its appearance on the Eastern horizon. Oh well, after 42 years he has learned to give me a wide berth when I get up and to not say anything until I've had my first cup of coffee. :)

  3. ps - I forgot to tell you how lovely I think your foggy, morning photo is. I think there is something mysterious yet lovely about fog peeking through the trees and bushes and covering the ground like a soft, misty carpet.

  4. I am a morning person. We get up about 5:30 most days, though that's because of work - otherwise I'd be up by 7:00 for sure. I like the quiet in the house & neighborhood in the mornings. I go to bed early though - sleeping by 10 most nights...and funny thing is I always have been even as a teen, I've never liked staying up late.

  5. Well this is one thing you and I do not have in common I'm afraid. Morning is my very favorite part of the day! It's kind of sad really, to know it is all downhill from there....LOL
