Thankful Thursday

Every Thursday I share something I am thankful for.  Today I'm thankful for everyone who commented on yesterday's blog post!  You all made me laugh out loud and really helped me to get over it!  If you don't know what I'm talking about, you can read about the dill pickle debacle here or you can scroll down to the previous post.

In response to your comments....Yes, he was in the doghouse for quite a while and I promise I didn't 'accidentally' do it.  There are still three jars left!  For a brief moment, I thought about putting the pickles back in the jar and back in the fridge, but I do love him too much to do that.  The doghouse doesn't have pillows and the strawberries had to be thrown out!  Yes, the fridge is now clean and at least I didn't have sauerkraut dripping like tinsel on the Christmas tree or broken eggs everywhere.  He did apologize and he still owes me!

Thank you all for making my day every time you leave a comment!

It's The Everyday Things

I don't like dill pickles.  Unless they are the fried pickles from Cheeseburger In Paradise.  Then I can eat them like there's no tomorrow! But because I don't like them and because only one other person lives in the house with me, I know who left the lid loose on the pickle jar.  I was cleaning out the fridge and picked up the jar and this is what happened.

The rest of the pickles are on the floor and the pickle juice is EVERYWHERE including down the front of my shirt.  Boy, was he in trouble!  You might be wondering why I would blog about this.  Well, I was at the fabric store when a woman in line commented on the fabric I was buying and one thing led to another and I told her about my blog.  When she asked what I blogged about, I told her I write about the things I make, family and just everyday things.

This is one of those things.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Thankful Thursday

Every Thursday I share something I'm thankful for.  With Easter approaching and reflecting on the meaning of the holiday, I am thankful for my faith.  There have been times in my life that I wouldn't have made it through without my faith in God and His strength.  It is very much a part of who I am and what drives me.
Life is not perfect, people are not perfect, circumstances are not perfect, but I find perfect peace in knowing that God loves me.

What are you thankful for today?

Friendship In A Box

As I was passing by the front door a few days ago, a package on the porch caught my eye.  I was wondering what Michael ordered as I picked up the box.  I was so surprised to see that it wasn't for Michael but for me and it was from my dear blog friend, Kathy from Klueless.  For a minute, I thought I ordered something from her shop, Strange Notions, and forgot.  But I don't forget when I order something, so I knew this was a surprise from her.  A surprise that would be blog worthy I was sure!  So I got my camera ready and opened the box.  Oh my gosh,   there were eight little pastel colored packages in the box with a sweet handmade card.  It looked like Easter but felt like Christmas!

The first package was eight vintage doilies.  Six of them were matching and even opened up like pockets.  I immediately thought what great pockets they would make on aprons!  The other two were smaller and crocheted.  They are so delicate and lacy!  I love the little flowers on one of them.

The next six packages were the most beautiful and incredible vintage laces.  They were different sizes and colors and each one made me gasp as I opened it.

By this time I was on the verge of tears.  I just couldn't believe the kindness and generosity of Kathy.  When I opened the last package, that was it.  It brought me to tears and I truly was touched and moved by such an amazing gift.  You see, I had seen this on her blog and as I told her in my comment for that post, it melted my heart.  And here it was in front of me, melting my heart!

Isn't it just precious?  Kathy made this for me!  I love how worn the little shoe is.  I wonder how many siblings it was passed down to.  How many steps did that little shoe take?  I'm just in awe of this wonderful gift.

I am so blessed to have found such wonderfully kind and talented women through blogging.  Women, who even though we have never met in person and are scattered all over the world, make me feel as though we have been friends forever.  Please visit Kathy's blog, Klueless.  She has a most wonderful sense of humor and writes about her junkin' finds and what she does with them!  While you're there, check out the Stamptington publications she has been featured in!  And then Check out her Etsy shop, Strange Notions, where you will find vintage linens and textiles, sewing notions, ephemera and paper goods, altered altoid tins and so much more.  Thank you again Kathy for your incredible kindness!

Have a wonderful Wednesday my friends!!!

Tickle Me Tuesday ~ Color Me Pink

Pink is my favorite color.  It is a happy, girly,  flirty, fun and romantic color.
These are some of my favorite pink items I found on Etsy.

Update:  The shop this egg was in is no longer on Etsy, although it was last night when I wrote this post.  I apologize for including something that is not available!

Love Lives Here

Some of you may remember the sneak peek of a project I was working on here.  This pillow is the finished project!  I love how it turned out.  I started with a vintage lace edged embroidered table scarf.  The only embroidery on it was the flowers.  I added a garland made of vintage mother of pearl buttons and stitched the words.  A happy yellow heart seemed like the perfect addition!

Next, I added some french knots and beads

Some machine stitching and embroidery stitches

And a cheery yellow bow

I sewed the scarf onto a piece of pretty floral fabric and used the same fabric for the pillow back.

I can't decide if I want to keep it or put it in my Etsy shop.  As much as I enjoyed the creating part, I didn't enjoy the stuffing of the pillow part!  It is a little lumpy feeling!  If I make any more pillows, I will make it to have an insert.

Love lives here and I hope it lives where you are too!

Happy Friday!!!

Thankful Thursday ~ Chicken Soup and the Man Who Made It

I have been under the weather lately, and well, you know how it is.  You just don't feel like doing anything.  At all.  For yourself or anyone else.  So I was very grateful when Michael decided to make chicken noodle soup.  Sorry I don't have a picture of the soup itself, but I wasn't thinking clearly at the time!

He even made homemade chicken stock.  Yes, I know, he's so good to me.  I just use store bought stock when I make it. But Michael went all out and made the best ever chicken noodle soup.  EVER!!!
In case you're wondering what cookbook the recipe is from, you can find it here.

A man who can cook is definitely something to be thankful for!

Tickle Me Tuesday

I am loving my new camera.  I graduated from my point and shoot to the Canon EOS Rebel XS a couple of months ago.  At first I was disappointed because the pictures just weren't turning out like I wanted them to!  I am a patient person, but at times I want what I want when I want it!  In other words, I wanted to pick up this new camera and have the photos turn out looking like I knew what I was doing.  I didn't want to learn how to use it!  It didn't take long to realize I was going to have to pay closer attention to the instructions and practice.  Thank goodness I had the point and shoot as a back up for the important, don't want to miss shots.
Thankfully, I'm more comfortable with it now and having fun playing with it.
Photography is something I've always been interest in and this camera is tickling my fancy!

It's Spring

Spring has finally sprung!  It's my favorite season and time of year.  I love how the flowers, trees, bushes, shrubs and grass start coming alive and filling the drab, dreary, dead landscape with life and color.  Spring means that cold weather is on it's way out.  It may take awhile to be completely gone, but old man winter is fading away.  This is how spring is looking around my yard.

I hope you're seeing signs of spring where you are.

What, if anything, will you miss about winter?

Thankful Thursday ~ Time With My Sister

I'm thankful for the time I got to spend with my sister this week.  I usually get to see her every couple of years, but thanks to her job, this past weekend makes the third time in six months!  We always have a good time together and we laugh...a LOT!!  She came by train on a cold, drizzly, gray morning.  And, well, you know me, I had to take pictures!

What are you thankful for today?

Have a wonderful Thursday!!!

Happy Birthday Shylee

Shylee is three years old today.  Her birthday party was last weekend and her daddy even got to come home for the celebration!  It was a little windy and on the chilly side, but this little girl didn't notice.  Put her on a playground and she's happy for hours.  Especially if there's cupcakes, a pinata and presents!

Happy Birthday Shylee!!!
